Wilbur R. Smith

Wilbur Smith of Galloway, Ohio died peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at the age of 85. Wilbur will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Charlotte; his children, Mark (Annette) Smith and Lori (Donald) MacLeod; his grandchildren, Zach (Allison) MacLeod, Rachel MacLeod, Alex MacLeod, Eric MacLeod, Brent Smith, and Cassidy Smith; his brother, Mike (Marci) Smith; and his sister, Charlotte (Pete) Chamberlin. Wilbur is predeceased by his brothers Jerry Smith and Glenn Smith, and his parents Opal and Ralph Smith.

Wilbur retired after 39 years with the Timken Roller Bearing Company. He was an active member of Hoge Memorial Presbyterian Church and served in the United States Army.

Wilbur loved spending time with his grandchildren and always supported them at sporting events and activities. He was a sprint car racing fan, an avid reader, and a relentless storyteller. He will be hugely missed.

Visitation will take place Thursday, May 5, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home in Grove City, Ohio, followed by a graveside service at Sunset Cemetery at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hoge Memorial Presbyterian Church Food Pantry at 2930 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204.
