William J. McCoy 85, Columbus, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2012. Bill was born in Columbus, OH on November 13, 1926 to William Caylop and Katherine (Geer) McCoy and is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sarah (Hannifin) McCoy; daughter-in-law, Billie McCoy.
Survivors include his daughters, Casey (Joe) Mayhew and Shaun (Dave) Conley; sons, Michael and Bill McCoy; grandchildren, Dan Rinkle, Amy (Patrick) McGovern, Sarah (Andy) Ruck, Dane (D'Ann) Conley, Stephen Mayhew, Braeden McCoy; 9 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and many friends. Bill was a WWII Veteran of the US Navy and a Columbus Firefighter for 33 years. Bill was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed greatly by his family.
A Memorial Service will be on Sunday, September 30, 2012, 2:00 PM at Genoa Baptist Church, 7562 Lewis Center Road, Westerville, Ohio 43082. Pastor Wayne Booth will officiate. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Tridia Hospice, 2215 Citygate Drive, Columbus, OH 43219. Bill's family would like to thank the staff at Highbanks Care Center for their loving care.
