William G. Lundwall

August 18, 1942 — February 1, 2025

William G. (Bill) Lundwall, 82, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 18, 1942, in Erie, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Gordon and Margaret Galvin Lundwall. He is preceded in death by his brother, Jon, and his grandson, Andrew.

Bill is survived and missed by his loving wife of 61 years Rose Ann (née Spirito); and his 3 devoted children, Jacqueline (Paul) Miller, Yvonne (Mick) Twiss, and Jeffrey. He was incredibly proud to be “Papa” to 8 grandchildren, Nicholas, Christina (Tom), Lexi, Aidan, Abbey (Nick), Kelsey (Terry), Mitch (Mara), and Adam (Lydia) and 6 great-grandchildren. His unwavering love for his family was the cornerstone of his life.

After his family, Bill’s greatest accomplishment was his sobriety. He truly lived his life “one day at a time.” Each morning, he would record another sober day in his calendar, notching 17,112 days as of his passing. For more than 46 years, he selflessly shared his story of redemption and his strength to overcome with hundreds of others who were struggling with addiction.

A self-taught engineer, Bill built a successful career in quality control that took him all over North America solving problems for his foundry clients. He had an uncanny ability to find creative solutions to every challenge. He was a lifelong tinkerer, always fixing, building, or improving things with his hands. To those who knew him, he was a real-life MacGyver.

Bill was a die-hard fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and hoped to live long enough to see the Cleveland Browns win a Super Bowl. He loved watching cowboy movies, driving his Ford Mustang, and golfing. He made a lifetime of memories with family and friends in Erie, Pennsylvania; Strongsville, Ohio; Seville, Ohio; and Alexander City, Alabama.

In his final days, Bill was lovingly cared for by the staff at Story Point South and Laurus Home Care in Powell, Ohio. His family is eternally grateful to them.

Bill leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and perseverance. His life will be celebrated at a private memorial service.
