MANLEY

William "Bill" G. Manley Sr., 72, of Columbus, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, March 27, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. He passed away at home in the care of his loving family and Odyssey Hospice. Born March 29, 1936 in Middleport, OH to the late Lewis and Garnett (Barbara) Manley. Also, preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Marcia; sister, Margie Manley. William is survived by loving and caring wife of 2 years, Patricia(Moore) Manley; daughter, Rebecca (Gary) Rohm; sons, Robert Sr., Ronald Sr., William (Michele) Jr.; step-son, Brant (Julie) Moore, Darrell (Jori) Moore; 18 grandchildren, Michael (Susan) Castle, Dedra (Robert) Nightingale, William (Kellie) Castle, Robert Castle, Michele (Joe) LaVilla, Amy (Kirk) Vollkommer, Justin Rohm, Ronald Jr., Jason Manley, Mindi Manley, Amy (Kinsey) Fulks, Robert Jr., Raquel Manley, Joshua and Chloe Moore, Shane, Shawna, and Melissa Moore; 29 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marylou (Richard) Rivera and Pauline (Art) Kessler; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Served in U.S. Air Force. Retired after 30 years from Laborer's Local 423 (active since Aug. 1962), also employed at Wal-Mart on Hilliard-Rome Road for 13 years. Born again Christian and faithful member of Briggs Road Baptist Church. His ministry of helps blessed all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by everyone whose lives he touched with his compassionate heart. He was co-founder of Harbor Lights, and for 45 years active member and an outstanding sponsor to countless other members of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) helping others with various addictions. Truly, he was a friend and inspiration to all who knew him in his place of worship, workplace, and all aspects of his life. His presence will be missed, but his spirit of inspiration will remain.. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 6-8pm, Tuesday, March 31, at Newcomer Funeral Home 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123. One hour of visitation prior to the funeral at 11:00am at Briggs Road Baptist Church 3231 Briggs Rd., Columbus, OH 43223 on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Dr. Ronald Hopkins officiating. Interment at GreenLawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Cancer Institute for William Manley Rare Cancer Fund at the funeral home.
