William "Bill" V. Reed, 90, of Westerville, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2021. Bill was born June 16, 1931 in Woodsfield, OH to the late Sidney and Lorena (Schwall) Reed. He has been reunited with his wife of 62 years, Jean (Hoskinson) Reed.
Bill was a member of Woodsfield High School class of 1949, and attended Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was honored to be able to participate in Honor Flight Columbus, 2017. Bill retired from Columbus Showcase Company after serving for over 45 years. He came out of retirement to work as a maintenance associate at Northland Mall for 4 years, and ultimately retired from Newcomer Funeral Home after 10 years of service.
Bill and Jean enjoyed square dancing, traveling and spending time with family. He recently enjoyed getting to meet and spend time with his new great-grandson, Charlie. Bill attended Genoa Baptist Church and formerly Grace Polaris Church.
Bill will be deeply missed by his daughter, Kelly (Chuck) Collins of Westerville, and granddaughter, Kara (Mike) Hassey of Westerville and great-grandson, Charlie Hassey, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife Jean, Bill was preceded in death by his siblings Virginia Reed, Hazel Farris, Edith Griffith, Carrie Kindall, Helen Secrest, Bernice Krietzman, Geneva Adams, Mary Salisbury, Joseph Reed, Niralee Howell, and James Reed.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 3, 2021, from 5pm until the time of service at 7pm at Newcomer NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd. Columbus.
Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, OH, where military rites will be held.
