William Rice

William E. Rice, age 74, of Columbus, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2004. He was born September 29, 1929 in Mt. Vernon, Ohio to Earl and Ruth Rice. Preceded in death by father, Earl Rice; mother and stepfather, Ruth and Wilson Johnson; son, Leonard Rice. Survived by wife, Sharon; sisters, Wauneeta Thompson of Fredericktown, Ohio, Elizabeth Mapes of Mansfield, Ohio; children, Debbie (Randy) Smelser of Indianapolis, Indiana, Ted (Cheryl) Kadoves of Grove City, Ohio, Laura (Pat) McCauley of Pataskala, Ohio, Diana Trillo, Rick, Mark, Rodney Taylor of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren, Derek, Jason Smelser, Jordyn, Nicolas Kadoves, Kevin McCauley; and numerous nieces and nephews. William retired from Murphy Motor Freight, and was a member of Teamster Local 413. Those who were fortunate to know Bill will never forget his sense of humor and kindness to friends, strangers, and animals. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Charlotte Pack and Pastor Ed Deming of Easton Worship Center. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at NEWCOMER-FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus. Funeral service 10 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Interment in Union Cemetery. Pastor Ed Deming officiating.
