Whiteside
William Warner Whiteside of Kingston, Ohio went to be with our Lord on March 27, 2006. Bill was born in Ostrander, Ohio on May 8, 1924. He graduated from Magnetic Springs High School in 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Hildreth E. Whiteside; brothers, Donald R., James H. Whiteside; and daughter Leslie Shannon Whiteside. Survivors include 5 children, Lori J. (David) Ehrenberg, Robin L. Whiteside, Cristi A. (Joseph Yaney) Whiteside, Cindy D. (Randy Linton) Whiteside, and Tod E. (Christie) Whiteside; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; his former wife, Shirley A. Lowe; brother, Robert E. (Mary Lue) Whiteside; sisters, Margaret (Paul R.) Anderson and Patty A. (James E.) Lathrop; sister-in-law, Patricia L. Whiteside; good friend and former son-in-law, Terry Brown; and his best friend Elizabeth Tipton. Bill served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943-1946 as a 2nd Class Petty Officer. He received the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 Bronze Star. Bill founded and operated Whiteside Ornamental Iron Co., and the Heart of Ohio Pool League in Columbus, Ohio. Bill also raced at Columbus Motor Speedway and surrounding tracks, enjoyed bowling and was an avid pool player. Family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, March 29, 2006 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd., Columbus. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Thursday, March 30, 2006 at the funeral home. Rev. Timothy Crisafulli will be officiating. Burial will follow in Oakgrove Cemetery in Delaware.
