William, "Bill" Clyde Wimer, 88, of Bexley, passed away in his sleep, on June 16, 2023, following a courageous battle with cancer. During the time proceeding his death, he was surrounded and cared for by the love and support of his family.
Bill was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 26, 1935, to the late William H. Wimer and Adeline E. Smith. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by the love of his life of 69 years, his wife, Jean, son-in-law, Gary Sherman, sister, Katherine Butcher and brother-in-law, Robert Butcher, brother, David Wimer, sister-in-law, Rita Helfrich, and brother-in-law Jack Helfrich.
He is survived by his children Beth (Tom) Krouse and Lisa Sherman. In addition to taking great pride in his children, his greatest was to be called "Pepaw" by his grandchildren Denney (Jodie) Loper, Karrie (Mark) Fansler, Bylle-Jean Loper, Emilee (David) Rollison and his great-grandchildren, Lizzie Morello, Addison Fansler, Henry Morello, Eli Loper and Emerson Fansler. And his three faithful "fur-babies" Bella, Chloe, and Bear. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Bill was a proud Navy veteran stationed in Hawaii serving during the Korean War aboard the destroyer USS Carpenter. Following his military service, Bill returned to Ohio and worked for Capital Manufacturing, Weatherhead Manufacturing, and Metal Container Corp which he retired from in 1997. In his retirement, he and Jean enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and family throughout the United States. He was a member of East Gate Masonic Lodge.
