Wilma J. Lavely

August 27, 1946 — March 3, 2025

Plain City

Wilma J. Lavely, a fierce spirit and the embodiment of tenacity, passed away on March 3, 2025, at the spirited age of 78 in Plain City, Ohio. She was born on August 27, 1946, in London, Ohio to Gilbert and Earcel (Fout) Iams, both of whom have welcomed her with open arms on the other side.

Now, let’s not beat around the bush-Wilma’s life was filled with both heartache and triumph. She is preceded in death by two beloved daughters, Michelle McAninch and Tammy Jenny, brothers Russell and Fred Iams, a nephew, Shane Iams, and her cherished grandson, Seth Jenny. It's safe to say that the heavens have gained one fiery lady.

Despite the heart-wrenching losses, Wilma pressed on. She is lovingly survived by her son-in-law, Dave (Darci) McAninch, her aunt Debbie (Fout) West. Wilma's loving spirit lives on through her grandchildren: Jessica McAninch, Rachel (Alek) Knowles, and David J. (Adaline) McAninch and her great-grandchildren: Brayden, Kynlie, Kay, Lincoln, Blake, Conner, and Austin. Let’s just say her legacy is in good hands with these bright lights carrying the torch forward.

Wilma was no stranger to hard work. She spent many years clocking in at Robert Shaw, giving her all to every task. After hanging up her work boots (well, sort of!), she took her talents to Southwestern City Schools, where her influence undoubtedly left an imprint.

When she wasn’t busy conquering the working world, you’d find her delighting in the beauty of Amish Country or getting her hands dirty in the garden, nurturing both plants and the hearts of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She didn’t just grow flowers; she cultivated love, laughter, and a fierce loyalty to her family that will never fade.

Now, let it be known: in true Wilma style, there will be no funeral services held-because why should she make a fuss when she can keep things spunky and straightforward, just like she lived her life? And that's how we shall remember her-full of spirit, laughter echoing in our hearts, and an irreplaceable force reminding us to embrace every moment with fervor. So let’s raise a glass and toast to Wilma J. Lavely, a remarkable woman who brightened our lives and now shines ever brightly among the stars!
