Yolanda Howard

Yolanda Gates Howard, 64, of Columbus, Ohio, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, June 10, 2023. She spent the last days of her life surrounded by her loved ones. Yolanda was born on November 25, 1958 in Columbus, Ohio and was a graduate of Central High School. She was a loving mother and devoted grandmother.

Yolanda will be missed by her soul mate Gerry Gilliam, sons; Tayon Howard Sr (Sherri), Maurice Smith (Amy), Gregory Howard and daughter Amber Howard. Yolanda was also survived by her grandchildren whom she loved more than anything; Tayon Howard Jr, Tabari Howard, Marlee Smith, Greyson Smith, Aubrey Smith, Monte Howard, A'mirah Howard and Javion Howard. She is also survived by her mother Callie Mae Scales and brother Vincent Scales (Kifah) and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many more she adopted as family over the years.

She is preceded in death by her father, O'Neal Chisholm, step-father, Aaron Scales, her brothers; Lonnie Gates-Bey, Ronald Gates, Maurice Gates, grandmother, Bobbi Chisholm, Aunt Ethel Chisholm, Uncle John Chisholm and nephew Shawan Watson Gates.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 21 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3393 Broadway, Grove City. The memorial service will be held directly after visitation at 11:30 AM followed by the procession to Greenlawn Cemetery. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to The Woods at Parkside, 349 Olde Ridenhour Rd, Gahannah, Ohio 43230.
